HTC Touch Pro, a New 3D Mobile Phone
Mystery has been in the air since past May 6th, after HTC suggested a new smartphone would be coming up soon during an event held in London. One month after, HTC Touch Pro is the unveiled secret that HTC had deserved for us. HTC’s new handset is based on its predecessor, the HTC Diamond, hence sharing a few characteristics including a slider QWERTY keyboard, but comes built with a 3D touch interface. The idea behind HTC Touch Pro goes beyond the TouchFLO 3D, technical name of its interface. With the PRO, HTC expects fulfill power users expectations with both loaded features and access to a physical keyboard rather than the virtual, which obviously speed text and data entries.
Despite HTC Diamond was often criticized as an effort to give HTC users with an iPhone-like cell phone, HTC Touch Pro is only similar at heart but not at all physically. Its touch-sensitive controls help users interact with the device but with the characteristic friendly-user interface, a characteristic of most HTC mobile phones, making easy and intuitive using common features such as one-touch calls, messaging and calendar overview.
HTC Touch Pro comes packed with Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional, 512 MB flash, 288 MB RAM memory, SD 2.0 compatible microSD memory card expansion slot, and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g which provides HSDPA 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA wireless connectivity. Like any other modern handset, the PRO includes Bluetooth connectivity (2.0 with EDR) and an interface with HTC ExtUSB (audio jack, 11-pin mini-USB 2.0, and TV out in-one.)
Featuring a 2.8 inches VGA touch screen, HTC Touch Pro also has a built-in 3.2-megapixel camera with optical auto-focus lens, excellent for video calling. Battery’s capacity has also been improved, providing up to eight hours of talking time and up to 14 days on stand-by. HTC Touch Pro has a powerful Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528MHz chipset so streaming multimedia must not be a problem. In fact this handset includes a YouTube application specially designed by HTC to satisfy the demand of users who need interface, that characterize this online video content, as well as Google Maps for mobile as another highlight feature. Peter Chou, President and CEO or HTC Corp. interface that characterizes Touch Pro is for those customers that demand the ease of use and enjoyment of TouchFLO 3D and want the styling of the Touch Diamond but also need the powerful mobile business experience that HTC delivers.”
When it comes to business productivity, power users can find HTC Touch Pro built-in TV-out functionality useful to deliver PowerPoint presentations directly from their handset. Microsoft Office documents can also be available literally at their finger tips, since HTC’s keyboard even facilitates email composing. HTC Touch Pro will be released in late summer across major European, Asian and the Middle East markets, but there will be a special HTC Touch Pro version North America and Latin America later this year
