iPhone Heading to China

At last, the long-time waited introduction of iPod to Asian markets as been signed between Apple and Hong Kong’s Hutchison Telecommunications company, a partnership considered tactical because Apple had remained distant from the Asian markets until now. The agreement to distribute iPhone in Hong Kong and Macau is going to start this summer. According to the South China Morning Post, news caused great expectation among subscribers of the telecom company, who expect to be the first iPhone users in these regions. Even though, there are not much details on the deal signed between the U.S. manufacturer of the popular Macintosh computers and the telecom unit, branch of the Hutchison Whampoat, one of the largest Hong Kong Fortune 500 companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock.

A Hutchison Telecom spokesman said “Due to the confidential agreement with Apple, we can’t say too much beyond the formal announcement.” However summer is just around the corner so Hutchinson’s subscribers will happily wait the handset’s launching date, time in which they will discover if 3G technology will come with the iPhone hand in hand. Despite iPhone was released about one year ago in the US smartphone market, it was only available in Asia through unofficial channels until the present day, often with locked capability due to the lack of an official carrier backing it.

The South China Morning Post revealed another partnership agreements held previously between Apple and several different mobile carriers, but nobody from Apple or Hutchinson wants to provide further details. It is also ignored if Hutchinson will release the iPhone within the 2G or 3G connectivity model or if there will be another operators providing this top-notch mobile technology after Hutchinson launches officially the iPhone handset.

Apple’s iPhone is more than a smartphone, it combines Internet access with the popular company’s browser, Safari. Besides, multimedia fans enjoy enhanced capabilities not available in other handset of this type, including the compatibility with iPod, another popular Apple’s product.

iPhone has been a controversial handset since before its launching date after countless delays announcing its release date. Regardless its huge popularity, Apple is still far of mobile markets still waiting an agreement to introduce this smartphone to their subscribers. With Hutchinson Telecom, iPhone will hit Hong Kong and Macau, but Mainland China and Japan are not considered within the agreement.

Moreover, Apple has delayed the introduction of its acclaimed iPhone to markets so opposite between one another including Russia and Spain. And while mobile carriers keep waiting, people continue getting the iPhone through informal parallel imports.

Apple’s iPhone is a slick smartphone that only weighs 4.8 ounces (135 grams) and comes packed with stereo handset, dock, dock connector to USB cable and USB Power Adapter. iPhone as 8GB or 16GB flash drive storage capacity and support wireless data transmission/reception through Wi-Fi, EDGE an Bluetooth. Asian iPhone will keep all the same multimedia features and other technical specifications than its American counterpart so it will basically on-screen language the only thing that will make different this product from the American version.
