New Samsung Steel HSDPA Handset

Samsungs has announced the release of its new Steel HSDPA Handset available through Vodafone on early June. This will be the first worldwide generation of HSDPA high-speed 3G mobile technology aimed to provide end-users with broadband Internet access at a similar transfer rate than traditional home’s ADSL/Broadband but directly to a mobile handheld without needing of a router or anything else. HSDPA stands for High Speed Downlink Packet Access, a 3G technology resulting of the evolution of UMTS standard that along with HSUPA (High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) enables higher data transfer speed up to 14.4 Mbps depending on the 3GPP release. The new Samsung handset with HSDPA technology is simply called “Samsung Steel,” a name matching perfectly with its exterior look. Samsung Steel is designed with the style-conscious user in mind, a flat slider phone that comes with a a 2.2 inches screen that supports 262k-color display, a 3-megapixel camera with auto-focus and video capture. Other remarkable features on this handset include a DAB digital radio, a document viewer, conference calling and video calling.
Of course, Samsung Steel has Bluetooth connectivity and a microSD card slot supporting up to 8GB expandable memory, but it will be first released in the UK exclusively for Vodafone’s subscribers. Actually, the HSDPA/3GPP network mostly available across the United Kingdom and Europe but 3G technology is being quickly adopted as mobile standard around the world.
