Android and the Gphone: Mythical Open Platform Phone Will Change Your Life

Yesterday, we brought you the news of the retro-futuristic J-Phone and today, in keeping with the lingo, we’re finally going to discuss the Gphone. We’ve shied away from this topic as the details have been fuzzy and how many times do you need to hear that Google is the most successful enterprise of the decade? Well, the Gphone is here to stay and, apparently, will change the way we use cell phones.

Android

Google’s revolutionary phone is not a phone at all, but an open-source platform for mobile devices powered by Android, an operating system that includes a user-interface, is loaded with applications and supported by the multinational Open Handset Alliance. The Open Handset Alliance includes upwards of 30 electronic mobile heavyweights including Motorola, Qualcomm, HTC, and T-Mobile. Expect to see the Google Android some time in the second half of 2008.

This video explains a bit about Google’s Android project, which doesn’t completely clear things up, but makes you feel like the Gphone will take control of the mundane tasks in our lives and make living a little bit easier.
