CuteCircuit’s Hug Shirt Gives Good Cuddle

I know the Holidays can get me down, being so far away from family and friends in my WiFi-equipped cliff cave. Sometimes, the loneliness is unbearable and I feel like nobody loves me, especially when I desperately need a hug and there’s no one around. A little human physical touch is a necessary interaction, in order to keep from going insane and jumping out of my crypt into the water below, never to be seen again. So, what is my solution to this problem, aside from reentering society?

The Hug Shirt by CuteCircuit, of course.

HugShirt

The Hug Shirt is a device capable of sending virtual hugs to and from loved ones at a distance. The shirt works in conjunction with your Java and Bluetooth supported cell phone and another Hug Shirt to mimic a hug that you give yourself, using “hugging output actuators”, and sends a copy of the hug to the huggee. The shirt duplicates the intensity, duration and feeling of your hug, sends the data wirelessly via SMS to another person who receives the hug via sensors on his/her Hug Shirt. If you’re not wearing your Hug Shirt and are too lazy to get out of bed to put it on, you can simply grab your cellphone and send a hug via HugMe software to the object of your embraceable desire.

CuteCircuit’s Hug Shirt is 100% washable after you remove the sensor pads and will be available in the US before the holiday season for $300. The Hug Shirt has been in development since 2005, won a Time Magazine award for Best Inventions 2006 and is finally seeing the light of day in 2007 for retail sales. Now, we can enjoy isolated living in caves while spreading the love to each other via electronic hugs. Yeah!
