Palm Centro Smartphone
The Palm has received numerous amount of criticism in the smartphone category. As Nokia and HTC continuously releases new and thrilling phones. Palm has always been one step back with its old array of its Treo models. It is hoped that Palm will be lucky this time in the smarpthone department by releasing its new and lightweight model: The Palm Centro.
The Centro is only available with Sprint which has a price tag of $99 inclusive of a contract for two years. The Centro is very user friendly so users who are thinking of purchasing one shouldn’t be scared of it. Despite its being a good smartphone it is not without its flaws. The problem in the design makes it a poor choice for people who want to use it extensively for business.
The Palm Centro has a dimension of 4.2 by 2.1 by .7 inches and weighs around 4.2 ounces which make it lighter and smaller than its older brother the Palm Treo.
The Centro has a choice of two colors, ruby red and black onyx. Female users will definitely be attracted by the ruby red color.
In the front of the Phone sits a 2.25 inch TFT display that is capable of 65 thousand colors with a 320 by 320 pixel resolution. The display produces a bright and crisp touch screen. Wow! This, I think, constitutes as a big advantage over its competitors like the Blackberry Pearl. Imagine, navigating your smartphone through a touch screen!
There are also the usual keys, like the end and talk keys just below the display for normal operation of the phone. As with all smartphones there is a 5 way toggle navigation key.
The phone’s QWERTY keyboard is a disadvantage to the phone being a bit small in which only a woman with small fingers will be better suited for it. For a normal person it would be very hard to type messages.
Just now, this smartphone includes the PocketTunes Deluxe Edition to its range of applications which is a first for Palm. People can now enjoy their MP3 songs and protected music on the phone. For relaxing times, Palm included the Sudoku game.
The last feature is the phone’s camera. It is a basic 1.3 megapixel with 2x zoom capability and video capturing features. It is really basic because there is no flash and you cannot adjust the exposure, white balance and tone of the images that you will be taking.
