World’s Thinnest 12.1″Notebook: Toshiba R500
Toshiba has just released to the world the slimmest 12.1” widescreen notebook PC, the ‘Portege R500’. Illustrated by this Korean cutie in the images below, the R500 is apparently light enough to hold effortlessly in one hand while walking in the park.

The Portege R500 features a 19.5mm thickness and weighs in at a mere 1.06kg (for you non-metric speaking folks, that’s ¾” of an inch thick and just over 2 lbs.). This skinny minnie features an integrated DVD SuperMulti drive and is built for business computing.
The R500 uses an Intel Ultra Low Voltage CPU and has an extended battery life of up to 12.5 hours. Toshiba includes ‘ConfigFree’, which allows users to vary configuration methods using wired or WiFi connectivity. Additional specs include: Intel Core 2 Duo ULV processor U7600(1.2GHz/2MB L2 cache/533MHz), 1GB DDR2 667 SDRAM memory, S-ATA 120GB HDD and Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950.
Going for a suggested price of 2,498,000(KRW) or US $2,700, this lightweight laptop is a welcome addition to executive computing options.
