I’m All In: Solid Gold Hello Kitty Playing Cards

Sanrio, the lovable Japanese/California company that created a worldwide standard for over-merchandising, is offering Hello Kitty at her bourgeoisie best- Solid Gold Hello Kitty playing cards.

Beginning October 3rd, the standard-sized, solid gold playing cards will be available through the Sanrio online shop. Each and every one of the 54 (2 jokers, of course) cards is made out of 0.73 grams of 99.99% pure, unadulterated g-o-l-d, people! Mitsubishi Materials Corporation has trumped the competition with its precision rolling technology, used to press each card to 7 microns.

Miss Kitty herself will be depicted in royal dress and the Union Jack and apples are featured in the graphic design of the pack. These icons are used, apparently, because Hello Kitty hails from London and is, ostensibly, “3 apples heavy and 5 apples tall”.
