Fast Cars and Fancy Phones: The Porsche P’9521
More and more car companies are getting their hands dirty by manufacturing personal electronic devices. We’ve seen the Ferrari laptop, the Hummer mobile phone, the Ducati USB memory drive and even Hyundai makes a watch/phone combo. Not to be outdone by competitors, Porsche Design has created a clamshell mobile phone, hoping to appeal to aficionados of the famed sports car.
Under the hood, the Porsche P’9521 contains a fingerprint reader, a touch-sensitive scroll interface, a respectable 3.2-megapixel autofocus camera with a 180-degree rotating screen to use as a viewfinder. Like it’s automotive uncle, the P’9521 comes with a slew of luxurious amenities: Bluetooth headset, USB data cable, micro SD memory card, email software, web browser and quad-band international coverage.
Its sleek design of aluminum and mineral glass will appeal to the fast cars and techno junkies set at a pricey £800. The Porsche P’9521 will be available from Carphone Warehouse in November.
