Where is Zune Going?

It seems like Microsoft will be taking it up another step with their Microsoft Zune, which the company claims is right where they were expecting it to be.
Chris Stephenson, the general manager of global marketing for Zune says that consumers will see new things from the Zune. One of the first being a device that will content Apple’s iPod Nano. Microsoft is looking to sell something that will be a lower cost than the $250 price tag currently, so as to quickly and effectively boost their user base.
Another point is the expansion of the Wi-Fi. Before the initial launch of the Zune, Microsoft heavily promoted the idea of being “social” with the Zune player. However, the Wi-Fi feature for the Zune was heavily limited and quite useless because the Zune was not as big yet. Therefore, Microsoft is looking to expand the in-place technology so enable downloading songs in the public and possibly syncing wirelessly with a computer.
Also, in May, the arrival of the heavily waited “Watermelon Red” version of the Zune is also said to boost the sales for Microsoft. With the release of the Light Pink Zune recently through online dealers, Microsoft has been steadily showing signs in expanding their color options for the Zune.
Overall, Microsoft seems to be taking more of an active role in listening and trying to meet the demands on what the consumers wish rather than what looks good on paper.
