Zen Stone Released.

Few days ago, we posted some more news regarding the Zen Stone. Well, good news! It’s now official and released! This is actually quite a surprising release by Creative, as they claimed that the market will have to wait a bit more until they can see it.

As many have predicted, the Zen Stone will indeed directly compete with the iPod Shuffle - except that the Stone will come at a mere £27.99 for the 1GB model - definitely making it cheaper than the Shuffle!

“The Creative ZEN Stone, at just £27.99, opens up a huge new market for MP3 players,” said Sim Wong Hoo, chairman and CEO of Creative. “This is an incredible price for everyone to get a high-quality MP3 player capable of holding up to 500 songs. Whether it’s your only player or a second one to take with you anywhere, this price lets you think of MP3 players in a whole new way.”

The Zen Stone will be able to support MP3, WMA (DRM9) and Audible and come in a minuscule dimension of merely 53.7 x 35.3 x 12.8mm. Not only that, but as Creative has always done, the Stone will also have many colors available: black, white, green, blue, red, pink. However, the issue over a 10 hour battery life remains as something to look out for as it is 2 hours short of its biggest rival - iPod Shuffle.

Currently, this UMS (plug and it’ll show up like a USB drive!) and a music player is only available in black, but starting on May 14th, the rest of the colors will be put out in the market. Also, Creative has already released a few accessories to go along with it, making it a very affordable and a perfect price-to-quality device.
