Hot Project: MIT Massively Multigadgeted Bar of Soap
Your phone is your camera is your mp3 player is your Internet connection and so forth. We, the consumer of today, are grabbing onto multi-use gadgets in the hopes that it will lighten our pockets and simplify our lives. This Bar of Soap project from the brainiacs at MIT intends to do just that.
MIT Media Lab has developed the Bar of Soap project, a prototype of a gadget that operates with an accelerometer and 72 touch sensors and supports Bluetooth connectivity. It decides how it functions, depending on the way it is held by the user. If you hold it like a mobile phone, it’s a mobile phone. If you hold it like a camera, it’s a camera. The list goes on to include mp3 player and TV remote. Potentially, this Bar of Soap could even be programmed to be an actual bar of soap.
According to this top secret MIT document, the Bar of Soap VI has achieved a success rate of 95% when tested on lab rats - i mean interactive users.
