The Geeks are Stylin’: Wi-Fi Detector Shirt

A t-shirt with Wi-Fi detection? Now, I’ve seen everything. The cheery folks over at ThinkGeek will sell you one of their animated Wi-Fi Detector Shirts for $29.99.

I don’t know who will actually wear this thing, but if you do, you’ll be able to tell when there’s an IEEE 802.11b or 802.11g network available to access, just by looking down at the illuminated bars on your chest. The bars function as you think they would, with more light-up bars highlighted meaning the signal is stronger.

The Wi-Fi detection shirt will be available for purchase by late October, according to ThinkGeek’s
website. Caution: this t-shirt is high-maintenance geek! It contains three AAA batteries that must be removed, along with the glowing decal when you stick it in the washer. Or, at least tell your mom about it on laundry day and make sure she hangs it up to dry.
