The Ultimate in “Cute” Parenting: $6,299 Hello Kitty Robot
What to do when you leave the kids alone for hours? Most people hire a babysitter, employ a nanny or drag along the little ones for (yawn) boring dinners with friends. Now, proud parents have another option.

The Hello Kitty Robot is described thusly on the Dreamkitty website: “This is a perfect robot for whoever does not have a lot time to stay with child. Hello Kitty Robo can help you to stay with your child to keep them from being lonely.”
No longer is the Hello Kitty manufacturer solely in the business of disposable, consumer-oriented goods with a high cuteness factor. The Hello Kitty Robot features face recognition using a CMOS sensor, voice recognition using a microphone and LED lights on her face, whiskers and ribbons to mesmerize and entertain the kiddies.
According to the website, this charming robot chats in three different personality modes: as a close friend, with the family and as a guessing game. Hello Kitty Robot’s animated mobility includes a moving head, arms and legs that respond to a motion sensor and she is equipped to be an entertainment hub using TV-Out and mouse compatibility.
The Hello Kitty Robot is now available for preorder to the tune of $6,299. Seems to me that KornTech’s Robo-Nanny has some steep competition in the robotic childcare arena.
